Business Attire That Works
If you are looking for work, you will notice many job descriptions will specify "business attire". Many women may picture the manly stuffy gray business suit of the 70’s with 3 inch shoulder pads. Business attire does not mean looking like the 80 year old librarian you knew growing up.
Many retailers today offer modern and modest womens clothing for business women out there. Of course, it’s always best to keep in mind that even though you want to keep fashion a priority, it’s best to make sure you don’t overdo it. A nice knee length pencil skirt with a black sleeveless ruffled button up and a pair of your favorite heels would be great attire for an office. If you plan on doing the button up make sure that it fits properly and you aren’t revealing too much.
You can find great women’s fashion tops at great prices at retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target. Also, it’s best to dress the part. If you plan on working for let’s say, a church, you definitely want to think about the people that you will be coming in contact with. The last thing you want is to show up to work wearing red stilletos with a cleavage bearing top. So again, keep it clean and wear modest women’s clothing when necessary.
Some woman would think it is hard to keep it sexy and modest, but it can be done. I have seen many women’s fashion tops that fit great and are very versatile, which is always a plus. Take the cardigan for example. Now many may groan at the idea of wearing a cardigan, but with a cute little strapless cotton bodice underneath you can go from the office to the after work party in seconds. It’s not that hard making sure you wear modest women’s clothing when in the office, just keep in mind the culture of the office.
Keep an eye on what the other women in the office are wearing and try to keep it the same. If you notice they are dressing pretty low key, you don’t want to overdo it. Don’t show up in stilettos when everyone is walking around in mules and you definitely don’t want to show up in sneakers when everyone is wearing stilettos. So, keep that in mind. It’s all in about what makes you comfortable and what makes you feel good. Like I said you can find great stylish women’s fashion tops, skirts, even dress pants at any retailer, but make sure you keep it modest. That doesn’t mean dress like the 80 year old librarian, but unless you work at Hooters, there is no need to show off the girls!
